Stenberg Capture

On the 30th of June after a six day manhunt NT Territory Response Group members arrested 46 year old Jonathan Stenberg who was wanted in relation to the murder and decapitation of Edward 'Ned' Kelly at Broadwater in NSW . The search was particularly difficult because Stenberg was armed with a rifle and handgun and was well prepared for living in the bush. He camouflaged a hide near Berry Creek not far from Cox Peninsula Road in the greater Darwin area.

The operation also involved over 100 NT officers, a surveillance aircraft and tactical police officers from WA, specialist surveillance officers from the Australian Federal Police and a police dog team from Queensland.

In July Stenberg was extradited to face the murder charges.
