Greg Bebensee was a visitor to Darwin from Karratha, WA. In the early hours of the 6th of June, 1999 he was walking to his accommodation from the Darwin entertainment precinct in Mitchell Street. Near the intersection of Mitchell Street West and Packard Street he was attacked with a camping axe and killed. His body was found at the end of Packard Place around 6.00 am. A person was charged but acquitted of his murder.
