GRAHAM, Clive

Clive William Graham (1908–1983) arrived in the Territory in 1932 and became the first NT Commissioner to rise from the ranks, serving from remote bush postings and patrols (horse and camel) to leading the Force through major change. Known for pragmatic frontier policing—from Hatches Creek’s “canvas and bough” station to long-distance patrols and high-profile operations—he was awarded the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (1959) and the Imperial Service Order (1967).

SPRIGG, Alfred Dean 'Dan'

Alfred Deane Sprigg (born 1925) served during a period of post-war change in the Northern Territory Police; his career included service in Darwin and involvement in a high-profile court case in 1959, in which he was ultimately cleared of all charges.

STOTT, Robert

Robert Stott (1858–1928) was a pioneering Northern Territory police officer whose long career spanned the frontier era; remembered for his leadership in Central Australia and for place names such as Stott Terrace and Mount Stott.

WILLIAMS, John Russell

John Russell Williams (1948–2012), born in Adelaide, served with the Northern Territory Police from 1978 and attained the rank of First Class Constable, representing the professionalism of Territory policing in the late 20th century.

DEANS, Joan Mary OAM
